Sources say that instead of being deterred by leading lady Kareena Kapoor's walkout, Sanjay Leela Bhansali continues with his big plans for his epic love story 'Ram Leela'


Kareena Kapoor may have marched out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming romance film, but the filmmaker is yet not ready to hang his head in disappointment.

In fact, according to sources, he has bigger plans in place, the first step of which is to take lead actor Ranveer Singh on a trip to Gujarat to prep him for his role. Our source from the film says, “Bhansali is planning to take Ranveer to Gujarat in order to make him familiar with the place, where the film is set, apart from introducing him to the crewmembers.”

With Bebo exiting the project, buzz is that Bhansali could be looking for a fresh face. And in case, the filmmaker decides to go with a tried and tested actress to cast as his Gujarati heroine, here’s looking at the timetables of some of our Bollywood actresses who could suit the part. But it looks like all of them have a rather choc-o-bloc schedule to start shooting next month.


Deepika Padukone: Dippy has the sequel of Race in her kitty. She is currently shooting for her film opposite Ranbir Kapoor. And then she will start working on Chennai Express.


Anushka Sharma: Right now, she is shooting for her Yash Chopra project, post which she will do Raju Hirani’s next.


Sonam Kapoor: Sonam is currently working on Rakeysh Mehra’s next and will start work on Ranjhana.


Katrina Kaif: The actress is shooting for Yash Chopra’s film opposite SRK. And then there is Dhoom 3 opposite Aamir Khan, apart from promotional activities around her spy thriller opposite Salman Khan.

Priyanka Chopra: PC could be Bhansali’s only hope among A-list actresses. She has no other film apart from the remake of Zanjeer.

Sources close to PC recently claimed that she had been approached to play the female lead in this Bhansali project. However, informers inside Bhansali’s camp indicate that PC’s ‘friends’ may have made the announcement a tad too early. Especially, since a new face could also be considered.

Anushka features on the next episode of Simi Garewal's show 'Simi Selects India's Most Desirable" on Star World and she shares her incredible 'secret' on it!

Anushka, who made her debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' revealed that she was reading the book 'The Secret' when she auditioned for the film. “When a Yash Raj movie starts, there is this logo that comes up so I used to keep watching it again and again. So when the film started and that logo played first and I was like wow... it actually happened.

Anushka added that she got very emotional when she actually got the role. “I was driving back from Yash Raj studios when Adi (Aditya Chopra) told me that I'd got the role. I couldn’t drive anymore because I was crying so I stopped the car and pulled over. I called my mother and told her that I got this film. Do you know what my mother told me? She said that there was this turtle that used to be in my room - I think its some Feng Shui thing - you open the turtle and you put a wish in the turtle. And when it comes true you take it out. She's never told me about this. But after I got the film she opened it and she showed it to me and she had written there - I hope that my daughter stars in a Yash Raj film. I swear! It’s unbelievable! I think somewhere she always wanted me to be an actress."

Somebody is raising fingers at my professionalism and I'm very upset about that. I come from a background that teaches professionalism and punctuality. People are raising fingers at my upbringing. All things about me being disrespectful to my seniors and colleagues are untrue. It's only been said that I take forever to get dressed and that I have assistants whose only job is to tell me how great I am looking.

All this is making me look ridiculous. I have come on national television (Karan Johar's chat show) and said that I don't think I'm the most good-looking person. Also about my supposed attitude problem, I'm outspoken and shy. I can't just go up to a person and start a random conversation. Maybe that is being seen as attitude. I get intimidated in public and I'm really awkward. I'm working on my social skills.

Once and for all tell us if Ranveer Singh is a friend or more?

I never wanted to talk about my personal life to anyone. I feel it's nobody's business. Ranveer is genuinely a friend that I have in the industry. We have had a similar journey in the industry. We are great friends, we hang out, we have coffee together, we got out for dinners and we have common friends. We did Band Baaja Baraat and now we are doing Ladies VS Ricky Bahl. We have some karmic connection but it's totally platonic. He continues to be my friend and that's about it.

Is Ranbir Kapoor recommending you for Ayaan Mukherjee's film?

What kind of girl does that make me? Are you raising fingers at my character? I have worked hard to get what I have today. Please give me respect for that. I come from an army background. I see boys and girls to be the same. It's a great thing that colleagues of the industry are bonding with each other. Ranbir is very sorted.

He is a very intelligent person and someone I can talk to. We have met only three times which is like nothing. He is a normal human being. People think that bonding happens with an agenda always. Well, it doesn't need to be so. Ranbir is not my boyfriend. I know Ayaan and he has a mind of his own. I don't know who's doing what to whom but the film hasn't come to me. That's the truth. Life was so easy before I became an actor. I could talk to anyone and no one bothered. I keep thinking to myself, should I not be myself but I won't do that.

When did Shahid and you become friends? One never heard about it when he was dating Priyanka Chopra?

Akshay & Anushka joins reality show 'CHAK DHOOM DHOOM'

As teams prepare for the cricket World Cup in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, some of the game's greatest players are gearing up for an appearance of a different kind -- in a new Bollywood film.

Former Pakistan paceman Wasim Akram, ex-England captains Nasser Hussain and Graham Gooch, South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs and Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds all feature in "Patiala House", which is to be released on Friday.

The film stars Akshay Kumar, an actor noted more for his action hero roles than his skills with the bat and ball, and tracks tensions between a traditional Punjabi father and his son in the west London suburb of South hall.

"My character Gattu wants to be a cricketer but his family is opposed to it. So, I am trapped between my ambition and my father. He wants me to work in his shop whereas I want to play cricket for England," Kumar told reporters.

Director Nikhil Advani said authenticity was essential with cricket providing the backdrop for the immigrant family drama. Southall has one of the highest concentrations of people of South Asian origin outside the sub-continent.

The script is reminiscent of Gurinder Chadha's 2002 hit "Bend It Like Beckham", set in nearby Hounslow with Parminder Nagra as the second-generation Sikh girl who defies her parents' wishes to play football.

"The film is about a cricketer's life and therefore we have taken many cricketers as actors so that we can get a real look for the film," said Advani.

Anushka & Akshay going Dubai

A new year can only mean a new wave of red carpet celebrity events that Dubai is known and loved for. The latest star-studded premiere to feature here is Wednesday’s screening of the Bollywood film “Patiala House”, where walking the red carpet at Grand Cineplex, Wafi City will be powerhouse Akshay Kumar, along with co-star Anushka Sharma and veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor.

Kumar, of course, isn’t new to the world of Dubai premieres, who was here last year for the screening of his film “Action Replayy”, which was preceded by a family holiday that saw him and wife Twinkle Khanna hole up in The One and Only Royal Mirage for some rest and relaxation.

Sharma may not have clocked the same number of air miles like Kumar, but hot on the heels of her hit, “Band Baaja Baarat”, the three-film old actress appears to have garnered a fan following in her short stint in Bollywood.

Spot the stars. So where should one position themselves with their cameras you ask? The duo, along with Kapoor and singer Hard Kaur, will kick off the day’s proceedings with a media event at 11am at the Le Meridien Airport Hotel.

Security is expected to be tight, so rather than being bounced around by some burly bouncers, we would suggest a drive down to Insportz indoors cricket club in Al Quoz Industrial 3 at 1pm, where the stars will make time for photo ops while a nail biting match kicks off, featuring teams Kumar and Sharma.

If you still happen to miss the action, then the duo’s next stop is the Al Noor Centre for Special Needs at 6pm, followed by a mall visit at Lamcy Plaza at 7pm.

Phew! And if you thought that was it, think again. The stars will then descend on to Grand Cinemas at 7.45pm (let’s hope traffic isn’t a killer) for more photo ops before the film commences.

And if your luck has been terrible thus far and you have yet to catch a glimpse of the celebs, then head to It’s Mirchi nightclub at Ramee Royal, Bur Dubai where Kumar and Sharma, along with Hard Kaur will groove to the beats of “Patiala House”.

The story so far. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the film’s release has been timed perfectly to coincide with the buzz surrounding the ICC World Cup Cricket, which kicks off on February 19.

Set in London, “Patiala House”, sees Kumar juggle the contradictory role of a shopkeeper from Southall respecting his traditionalist father, played by Kapoor, while pursuing his dream to play cricket for England.

Aside from seeing his real-life mother-in-law, Dimple Kapadia play his reel-mom in the movie, “Patiala House” also features cricketers from the England, Australia, South Africa, India and Pakistan teams including three former England Captains – David Gower, Nasser Hussain and John Emburey. Kumar’s production house, Hari Om Entertainment Company has backed the movie, along with People Tree Films and T-Series.
