Now Bollywood floats Adult, uncut version online

Bollywood is perhaps in its boldest phase ever, but the censor board often plays a spoilsport. To combat that, filmmakers have found another way to present unedited adult content - they are floating trailers and songs on online medium. 

Filmmakers are determined to make their content go viral on internet. 

When the trailer of Ekta Kapoor's forthcoming sex comedy "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" was allowed in theatres and TV only after suggested cuts by the censor board, the filmmaker kept the uncut version for online viewers.

An upset Ekta decided to play around the law. First, she rushed to the capital to show "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" promos to media when her uncut trailer couldn't make it to the theatres with the release of "Bol Bachchan".

"We have a sanitised, boring promo in the theatre for the ones who will be seeing 'Bol Bachchan'. But I want to show the real promo to everyone, so that's going online! I will create as much buzz as I can for the film because I can't fight the law, I can work around it," Ekta told.

"I'd rather have the audience decide whether the promo of my film is vulgar or funny and naughty. Luckily, the response is positive online," she added.

When the uncensored promo of the film was released on YouTube, it was a hit and has so far got over 522,500 hits on YouTube. 

Pooja Bhatt decided to promote "Jism 2" songs with adult content on internet, rather than opting for the tedious job of snipping out so-called objectionable scenes from her film. 

With "Jism 2", Pooja is introducing Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone in her scintillating and sizzling avatar to the Indian film industry. 

The director has shot six songs for the film, but she has chosen to showcase only three songs with asexual content on TV. The rest have gone online - "a more than worthy competitor of TV," said Pooja recently. 

It is a conscious decision she had to make. 

"We have six songs in 'Jism 2'. Only three cater to a universal audience without losing their essence. The other three cannot be made to seem asexual! Hence, we will only submit to the censor board and plug on TV those songs of 'Jism 2' what we feel is appropriate for a family audience," Pooja wrote on her Twitter page.
The actress-turned-director is happy that viewers get a chance to choose what to watch without a "roadblock" by the censor board. 

"The three 'Jism 2' songs that cater to the average thinking, discerning, passionate, ADULTS may be viewed freely and by CHOICE across the internet.

"This is the FIRST time a mainstream film has chosen the internet and social media as a more than worthy competitor to television," Pooja said, adding it's "a brand new, sane and fair way forward for all!"

The two ladies have started a new trend that many would follow!

For TV, Balaji sends revised version of The Dirty Picture

The content of Viday Balan starrer "The Dirty Picture" has been revised to ensure it is suitable to be broadcast on television channels.

"A revised U/A has been submitted to the channel, " Tanuj Garg, CEO Balaji Motion Pictures, told.

The voluntary deletion carried out by the filmmakers are in addition to the 59 cuts that had been made earlier in the film when it was given U/A rating by the Censor Board.

"The Dity Picture", unofficial biopic on late southern actress Silk Smitha, was to be premiered on Sony TV on April 22.

However, the screening was banned by the Information and Broadcasting ministry saying that the Censor Board felt that even the UA certificate given to the movie after several cuts meant that parental guidance was a must.

We tried to get in touch with Censor Board spokeperson, but he was not available for comment.

Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum not for high-brows: Ekta

Unapologetic about her forthcoming production "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum", Ekta Kapoor says that people with "pristine sensibilities" should stay away from it.

"I am not going to give any justification to anyone. Those who don't like it, sorry, but if you like it, we love you. It took us seven years to gather the guts to make 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum', " the 37-year-old said while promoting the film at a radio station.

"We are not bothered about anyone. Yes, I do worry about going to jail or being killed, otherwise nothing, " she added.

"Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" is a sequel to Ekta's 2005 film "Kyaa Kool Hai Hum".

Ekta has a set target audience in mind for her film that hits theatres July 27 and cautions others against watching it.

"If you are a fuddy-duddy and have very pristine sensibilities, please don't watch it because it's not for you. It's for the masses, for youngsters. It's actually for those who loved part one and enjoyed that mad humour. It's not for the high-brows, the tight-asses. If you are one of those, please don't come, " said Ekta who turned to film production with "Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta" in 2001.

On whether the Indian audience was going to lap up a film like "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum", Ekta said: "It's an adult-comedy. We had a 'Delhi Belly' last year. It clearly shows India has got a sense of humour now. We are OK with adult jokes because we crack them in our everyday lives. It would not go down the cheap road."

The film stars Riteish Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor in the lead while Neha Sharma and Sarah Jane Dias play the female leads.

Small screen apes big; creativity down the tube

Where has all the creativity gone, wonder television viewers who find that an increasing number of soaps have annoyingly familiar stories, taken from one Bollywood blockbuster or the other.

From "Kya Hua Tera Vaada" to "Hitler Didi", many serials are taking a cue from the movies, whipping up storylines and adding some small screen flavour to keep the track going for as long as possible.

The twists and turns in "Kya Hua Tera Vaada" are akin to Salman Khan's "Biwi No. 1"; the latest track in "Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki" reminds viewers of the wife selling the husband in the Anil Kapoor-Sridevi starrer "Judaai".

If in the 1997 "Judaai" Sridevi sells her husband to Urmila Matondkar to become rich, in "Main Lakshmi...", the protagonist Lakshmi sells her husband Arjun to his ex-flame Soumya to bail her in-laws out from a financial crunch.

In Ekta Kapoor's "Kya Hua Tera Vaada" about an extra marital affair, Pradeep (Pawan Shankar) decides to move in with his ex-flame Anushka (Mouli Ganguly) and divorce his wife Mona (Mona Singh). The way Mona is handling the situation bears uncanny resemblance to how the wronged wife (Karisma Kapoor) reacted in "Biwi No. 1".

"As a writer, when we keep writing stories and there are times when it comes to a point 'now what?' Then producers and writers take the decision that such a story can be incorporated and we tend to experiment with the storyline, " said writer Rajesh Joshi, who has penned shows like "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", "Kkusum" and "Pavitra Rishta".

"Though it might prove to be a TRP safety measure to some extent, one isn't sure how prominent will it be. The success depends upon the popularity of the show and its characters and how we incorporate it (new storyline) in the script, " he added.

Mona admitted that the story of "Kya Hua..." and ""Biwi No. 1"were similar but said the treatment was different.

"To a certain extent I agree because the man did have an extra-marital affair and there was infidelity (in the film). But that was a three-hour movie and it got over, but this is a serial and it will last for one or two years at least."

The story of Life Ok's show "Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava" is close to "Daraar", which starred Juhi Chawla, Arbaaz Khan and Rishi Kapoor. In the serial, Karanvir Bohra plays the over-possessive and violent husband, Harshad Chopra is the saviour and Sriti Jha is the distressed wife.

Zee TV's "Hitler Didi" recently wrapped up a track, which was loosely based on the film "Khosla Ka Ghosla", where the protagonist Indira's father sells the family home to a builder without telling his family. And how she fools the builder to get the house back. The serial has lots of incidents similar to the hit film.

The trailers of the forthcoming "Rab Se Sohna Isshq", to be aired on the same channel, shows a guy trying to reunite with his newly wed wife with her lover, pretty much like Ajay Devgn wooing Aishwarya Rai in "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam".

If that is not enough, news is that TV czarina Ekta Kapoor is planning to make a show based on Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer blockbuster movie "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge".

She is even planning to bring the epic romance of "Jodhaa-Akbar" on the tube.

There is therefore no fixed time to end a show and to keep the story going, makers have to introduce new tracks, says director Ravindra Gautam.

"In a film, you tell a story in three hours and wrap it up, but in television shows you don't know for how long would the show go on? How many tracks can you incorporate?

"There are very few combinations when it comes to making a TV show. The volume of television is much more than films. There are times when the stories go out of stream and then you think of different tracks."

Ekta Kapoor not miffed with me: Anurag Kashyap

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap denies Ekta Kapoor is upset with him as his "Gangs Of Wasseypur - Part I" released without any censorship issues, while she has had to face a roadblock with the trailer of her sex comedy "Kya Super Kool Hain Hum".

Known for being straightforward, Kashyap rubbished the runours saying Ekta called him and told that she "loved my film".

"She would have said it (she's upset with me) in a different context. It got interpreted as something (else). I cannot believe that she is miffed at me," he added.

Few scenes from the theatrical trailer of Ekta's sex comedy have been snipped. The uncut trailer would thus only feature online.

Super Kool encounter: Ekta Kapoor meets L K Advani

On a recent Mumbai-Delhi sector on a private carrier, Ekta Kapoor, travelling with a companion, had BJP Leader L.K. Advani as her co-passenger. Ekta was Delhi-bound to promote her forthcoming comedy and also visit Fatehpur Sikri to seek blessings for the release.

Once airborne, Ekta's companion, who knew Advani, went up to the famous politician and introduced Ekta to him. The three are believed to have had a brief conversation at the end of which the leader was presented a CD of 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum'.

He smiled as he saw the naughty creative on the CD cover and wished the team all the best for the film's release!

Ekta: 'Kyaa Kool Hai Hum' series is Bollywood's answer to 'American Pie' series

She describes "Kyaa Kool Hai Hum" series as Bollywood's answer to "American Pie" series. But Ekta Kapoor is miffed that the censor board has snipped three scenes from the theatrical trailer of "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum". She blames it to existing prejudices in the Hindi film industry.

Anurag Kashyap's "Gangs Of Wasseypur" had coarse and crass language too, but it released without cuts. So what is the hullabaloo around "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum"?

She replied saying, "There's a big difference here. That's Anurag Kashyap - you know how it is. Everything that Balaji (Motion Pictures) does or any mainstream filmmaker does, will always be considered to be cheap and crass." 

"If Dibakar (Banerjee) would have made this film, it would have a totally different effect. So we always suffer prejudices in Bollywood, and we just fight constantly, " she added. 

The 37-year-old is upset that the censors are not letting the movie's original promos reach the theatres, but she doesn't blame them for double standards either.

"We never had issues in the film's first part. I think our society was so much cooler at that time. Now suddenly everyone raises a question, everyone asks 15 questions. So we have a sanitised, boring promo in the theatre for the ones who will be seeing 'Bol Bachchan', " said Ekta who was in town to show the uncut version of the trailer.

"A-rating programming is allowed on TV after 11 p.m., then also we are not allowed to show anything. There is so much prohibition in society for everything and because anyone can raise a question. Everyone is so scared. I don't blame the censors. They are under so much pressure. People are ready to file a PIL (public interest litigations) against everything... it's really curbing the creativity." 

"I thought the first part of my series in 2005 would have to face all this. We are in 2012, for god's sake! It really seems like the world is coming to an end, " she quipped.

But she points out the biggest challenge is that "any kind of double meaning in Hindi sounds crass". 

"Very strong research once said that the real problem with our language is that it is so restrictive. The American language has extended itself to slangs and made itself more colloquial, " Ekta observed.

"Hindi has not taken any such extension because of which there has been stagnation in the language. So it is much tougher to write a Hindi comedy with double meaning because we didn't want to go crass, " added the filmmaker, who has produced films like "Love Sex Aur Dhokha", "Ragini MMS" and "The Dirty Picture".

However, she believes the Sachin Yardi-directed movie, releasing July 27, has adult humour in measured amount. 

"We wanted to go funny with adult humour. Some portions could probably hurt some sensibilities. But on the whole, the film has tried to keep its humour funny without being offensive, " she said.

Cracking jokes in Hindi is an uphill task "because they sound worse than they sound in English, " said Ekta. 

" 'Delhi Belly' was made in English because they clearly realised the power of that language in making things sound much better than they are.

"For us, it has been a struggle to make Hindi a language where double meaning doesn't go into becoming another lowest common denominator and this just turns out to be another film, " said the filmmaker. 

She has brought her brother Tusshar Kapoor and actor Riteish Deshmukh together after seven years for the franchise, which hits the screens July 27.

No dearth of promotional platforms for Ekta

TV tsarina Ekta Kapoor is unable to show the uncut trailer of her next production "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" in theatres, but she says she will fill her ongoing TV shows with songs from the film to boost the movie promotions.

The song "Teri shirt da button..." was spun into a recent episode of "Bade Achhe Lagte Hain".

"Wait and watch... all the 'Bade Achhe...' and 'Pavitra Rishta' will be filled with the songs of this film. I am going to put the songs on all my shows, " Ekta said.

The theatrical trailer of "Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum" will release in halls with the movie "Bol Bachchan". But it has been allowed after three cuts suggested by the censor board.

Did Kareena and Ekta have a fall-out over Emraan Haashmi?

After Bebo's recent dismissal of her Emraan Hashmi production, sources indicate that close buddies Ekta Kapoor may not be feeling too kindly about Kareena anymore


Close pals Ekta Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor may not on the best of terms these days. It all started when Bebo was supposed to do the sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai that Ekta is producing. 

But the actress reportedly walked out at the last moment and had to be replaced by Sonakshi Sinha. Now, apparently Ekta is not happy with Bebo’s antics.

A source informs, “Ekta was not happy with the fact that Kareena opted out at the last minute. However, Ekta who is also doing a co-production with Karan Johar, to be directed by Akshay Roy and stars Emraan Hashmi really wanted Bebo to sign this film.


Apparently, Kareena did not even hear the script. Ekta was very unhappy about it and has been telling people that she will never work with her in the future.”


The source adds, “A couple of days back, Ekta also had a funny status message on her phone, which could indicate: Damaged Psycho + Dumb Bimbo = Heroine (we wonder if she was referring to Bebo’s next release). This clearly shows that she is not very happy with Bebo.” 

When we contacted Kareena Kapoor, she rubbished the news. Ekta however chose not to reply to our SMS.

Ekta to visit Fatehpur Sikri

Ekta Kapoor is known to be a very religious person. The filmmaker will visit Salim Chisti's shrine at Fatehpur Sikri Sunday to seek blessings for success of her forthcoming film "Kya Super Kool Hain Hum".

"I'm a very spiritual person and apart from hard work it is necessary to have blessings. I will be visiting Fatehpur Sikri to seek blessings for 'Kyaa Super Kool....' and I hope the film does well, " Ekta said in a statment.

The curvaceous Shilpa Shetty's chartbuster, 'UP Bihar Lootne' ('Shool') will feature in the film but not in its original form! There's a twist here, as the lead pair Tusshar and Riteish Deshmukh will gyrate to Shilpa's 'thumkas' in a specially created male version of the track, choreographed by the veterans Rekha and Chinni Prakash, whose recent work in 'Ishaqzaade' had everyone spellbound. 

Titled 'Hum Toh Hain Cappuccino' by lyricist Kumaar, the Meet Brothers Anjjan have recreated Shilpa's chartbuster (by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) to make it even more commercial and club-friendly! 

Last weekend, an elaborate dhaba set, which cost over 2 cr, was set up at Mumbai's Film City where Tusshar and Riteish shot for the track with leading ladies Sarah-Jane Dias and Neha Sharma. 

Says producer Ekta Kapoor, "Our team debated extensively on the choice of track before we arrived at 'U.P. Bihar Lootne'! 

It's not just another run-of-the-mill item number that you see these days! It is supremely quirky, funny and signature super kool, which goes very well with the tone of the film! The boys have completely outdone themselves and the track promises to take the hype around the film to a new level!" 

Poised to become the new dance anthem post its release on July 5, the track has a promotion plan as unique as the track itself. Ekta plans to give it the widest possible viewership across a single evening by revealing it on Balaji's four consecutive leading prime-time soaps ('Pavitra Rishta', 'Parichay', 'Kya Hua Tera Vaada' & 'Bade Acche Lagte Hain'), something which has never been done before. 

The track will also be the front-runner for the film's promotion in North India, and particularly, in Delhi, U.P. & Bihar, where Riteish and Tusshar, in a rustic get-up, will tour the cities in an open truck with the track blaring from the loudspeaker.

Ekta Kapoor to revive film based on 7/11 terror attacks

A film based on the 7/11 terror attack on Mumbai's suburban train lines may finally see the light of the day

Directed by Joy Augustine, who is known for his 1996 super hit film Tere Mere Sapne, it was co-produced by Suniel Shetty and Ekta Kapoor. However, the film got stuck along the way.

Our sources tell us that the project is finally being revived by Ekta Kapoor’s production house. Joy tells us, “Even I have heard that Ekta is planning to revive the film. I’m just hoping and praying that it gets done.”

One of the reasons why the film was stalled was because of a misunderstanding between the co-producers, Ekta Kapoor and Suniel Shetty. But apparently now the two have sorted out their differences and Ekta is working to get the film started.

After a flurry of text messages from her fans on the new track of 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum', Ekta Kapoor ends up with a conked cell phone

Even celebs have to pay the price for popularity. After all, when a track from Ekta Kapoor’s forthcoming film went viral on the Internet, the whole world, err almost, decided to congratulate her on it. Unfortunately, it led to her cell phone crashing, thanks to too much of data.

Ekta says, “To be frank, I wasn’t expecting such an amazing feedback. It was only after receiving endless messages — not only from friends but also from fans — that I realised the extent of attention it has managed to grab.”

The constant run of responses eventually resulted in the crashing of the television-film producer’s cell phone. But as expected, she isn’t complaining, “It’s OK. I’ll get a new one.” 

Women on top
Last year, Ekta was looking forward to the Vidya Balan-starrer The Dirty Picture. This year on being asked whether she has another film in the pipeline with strong female characters, the 37-year-old replied in the affirmative. 

“I’m keen on women-centric projects. It will take time but something in the same vein will happen and you’ll know,” Ekta assures.

Wedding woes?
It’s difficult to end an interaction with Ekta Kapoor without prodding her about her marriage plans, if at all. She’s admittedly tired of the question — to the point that nowadays she just laughs it away. 

“Even my mother asks me the same question! Anyway, I’m way too busy with work to think of anything else as of now,” Ekta signs off.

Vivek Oberoi gets the royal snub from Ekta

A birdie present at Mika's birthday bash on Monday chirps to say that Vivek Oberoi was royally ignored by both Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor.

VO felt extremely left out as both refused to acknowledge his presence. Although Vivek came forward and hugged Gupta and told him that he had heard some great things about his upcoming project, the filmmaker chose to give him a cold shoulder.

Gupta had major issues with Vivek when he kept him hanging about acting in his film and ultimately decided to walk out.
