Actress for Punit Malhotra's next not finalised yet

Parineeti Chopra is reported to have been approached to play the lead in director Punit Malhotra's next venture, which has Imran Khan in the male lead. But producer Karan Johar says nothing decided yet.

"The article suggesting we have made an offer for the female main lead of our Imran-Punit film is untrue....we are yet to offer it to anyone, " Karan posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Malhotra's last flick "I Hate Luv Storys" starred Sonam Kapoor and Imran as the lead pair and he wanted to repeat the same cast for the love story.

It has been reported that Parineeti, who has signed a three-film deal with the Yash Raj Films, had been approached by Karan for the movie.

Revealed: Imran's special skill that makes Avantika very happy

Revealed: Imran`s special skill that makes Avantika very happy
Actor Imran Khan is not quite the prankster that he looks like. In his spare time, he says he is often seen staring at some wall Calling himself lazy, Imran tells CS about his real sober nature:

My tranquil moments

I am not really a prankster. Pranks require a certain amount of involvement and energy which I don’t have. I am a very tranquil person. I put my energy only in things that call for it, like my work. Once my work is done, I go onto what I called the ‘screen saver mode’. I can sit and just stare at nothing in particular.

I am basically very classic in my taste. Even in my house, I don’t like too much colour. I like to keep it clean and neutral. Right now, I am doing up my house in just grey stone and white walls, wooden furniture and no garish colours.

Tuning in

Music plays a big part in an actor's life. Because it puts you in a certain mindset. So based on the film that I am doing, I change the kind of music that I am listening to.

And I watch a lot of movies and read as well. I read especially on shoots between shots, when there is a lot of time and there's nothing to do. I read anything from the thriller, fiction books to those that teach you skills; like a cooking, carpentry or a photography book.

The cook in me

I cook very well. I can cook anything. Avantika is very happy ofcourse. I cook anything from Indian dishes to pastas and pizzas. Recently, I learned how to kneed the pizza base dough. So I can make the base and the pizza sauce right from scratch.

Imran Khan was the first choice for Cocktail not Saif

Director Homi Adajania says Imran Khan was his first choice for romantic comedy "Cocktail", which has Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and model Diana Penty.

"Saif was not the first choice. Imran was supposed to do it but he was not sure if he wanted to do it at that point of a time," Adajania told.

Being produced by Saif's Illuminati Films, the film will come out July 13.

"As Saif is the producer, he was going through the scripts, he read it and loved it. So, it worked out pretty well and that is how he came on board," he said.

Adajania debuted as a director with dark film "Being Cyrus" and it had Saif in the lead role. Dimple Kapadia and Boman Irani too featured in it.

For "Cocktail" too the director has roped in Dimple-Boman to play prominent roles.

Explaining their presence in the cast, he said: "Dimple and Boman are also there in the film and it is not like they were in 'Being Cyrus' so are part of this film as well. It is not a matter of familiarity but using talented actors who fit the bill."

Delhi Belly 2 not on the cards

`Delhi Belly 2` not on the cards
Making a sequel to the successful adult comedy "Delhi Belly" is not on the radar of filmmaker Abhinay Deo now, but he says that he has three more films in hand.

" 'Delhi Belly 2' is not on the cards at the moment. The writer and I need to sit down and write it, if we feel we have material," Abhinay told.

"I'm doing three more movie projects and all three are in the writing stage. I'll talk more about that later," he said.

Abhinay's first directorial venture, "Game", did not do well. But his second, "Delhi Belly", was a runaway success.

A sought-after ad filmmaker, Abhinay won last month a Gold Lion award at the 59th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for his campaign "I Am Mumbai" for the Mumbai Mirror newspaper.

He became the first director from India to win the award, considered equal to an Oscar.

"It feels fantastic. I'm glad that I could do this," he said.

Ask him what he enjoys making most -- ads or films-- and he says: "I enjoy both. It is a great experience to do both and both have their own magic. Ad is my first love. I have always done commercials. Feature is something I like doing now.

"I think both (ads and films) have their own challenges. There are some ads, like for Mumbai Mirror, which have been incredibly challenging. It's like doing a production for a small feature," said Abhinay, who has directed commercials for Pepsi, Nike and Cadbury.

Son of actors Seema and Ramesh Deo who played the couple in the 1971 film "Anand", Abhinay started out as an adman.

Asked if there were any specification on how to form a base in filmmaking, he said: "There is no thumb rule. There is no recommendation from my side that it's better to get into ads first. But one thing I can say is that making ads disciplines you regarding time. It teaches you the value of time."

"Ads are 30-40 seconds long. So you need to be careful about every millisecond. Feature films kind of spoil you because it gives you an opportunity to play with time," he said.

On celebrities endorsing brands, he said: "That does work. There is no doubt about that."

He then added: "Sometimes, a celebrity overshadows a brand and sometimes a celebrity works effectively for a brand. So it depends on how the agency and client decide to use it."

After directing two movies, Abhinay wants to make an ad that does not look staged.

"In advertising, there is a certain type of staged feeling because at the end of the day, you are selling a brand. An ad looks like an ad. After doing a feature, my idea is to make an ad, which does not look like an ad. I want to make it look real. This is what is appreciated now," he said.

Emphasising on the role of a director in making ads, he said every director has "varying degrees of involvement".

"Because I have had a strong agency background, my involvement in scripting is a lot more," he said.

Imran hunts for the perfect 'tapori' look

To prepare for his upcoming role, Khan has sent his designers on a hunt around the city to research on how they really dress

After portraying a Delhi lad in Delhi Belly, Imran Khan is now all set to play a Mumbai ka tapori in his upcoming film, directed by Milan Luthria.

Though the actor is currently travelling abroad, he doesn’t want the distance to come in the way of his preparations for the role. Following the footsteps of his maamujaan Aamir who played a similar role in Rangeela, Imran Khan has been sending his stylists to the innermost corners of Mumbai.

As a result, they have been making the rounds of the underbellies of the city including areas such as Bhendi Bazaar, Mohammad Ali Road, Nagpada, Sakinaka, Dongri, Dharavi, etc to research on how the inhabitant taporis really dress nowadays.

Our sources say that the actor wants to make sure his dressing is authentic and not make-believe, hence all the efforts.

“Imran Khan has taken upon himself to seek perfection and not go with the clichés when it comes to his onscreen persona. Therefore he has sent his designers in the areas where he can find the authentic tapori look, ” the source also adds.

Is Imran trying to 'shape up' for Sonakshi?

Imran Khan has been pumping iron for his role in an upcoming sequel could be to look right for his part opposite Sonakshi Sinha

Imran Khan has been busy working out hard in the gym for his role in the sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

Word is that it is not to compete with co-star Akshay Kumar in the brawns department; instead it appears that the actor is going all out to make sure he looks absolutely physically compatible opposite his on screen ladylove Sonakshi Sinha.

While Imran has a rather skinny frame, Sonakshi is known for her curvy and slightly broad figure. We overheard the actor telling a friend, “I am getting into bodybuilding, so that I can be seen in the frame with Sonakshi.”

Imran has two months to prepare for his role, as the shooting of the film begins in August.

Sonakshi’s weight issues have been part of dining table conversation ever since her debut with Salman Khan in Dabangg. Also, after working with senior actors like Sallu and Akki, finally Sona is now doing films opposite actors from her own age group.

Arjun Kapoor replaces Imran Khan in Karan Johar's '2 States'

Kapoor will star in the big screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel; film to roll by year-end

Finally, all the speculations around the lead actor in Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala's 2 States can now come to rest. It will be Arjun Kapoor who will be playing the lead role in the film to be directed by debutante Abhishek Verman

A source informs us, “Arjun Kapoor has been signed on to play the lead for the role. The deal happened on Monday night and the film will roll by the end year. The leading lady is yet to be finalised.”

The source further said, “Sajid Nadiadwala has bought the rights of the book from Chetan Bhagat and had initially planed to make the film with SRK, which was to be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

However after it fizzled, Ranbir Kapoor stepped in and it was then decided to have a co-production with Karan Johar’s company.

After that Imran Khan stepped in. However, he also had to opt out due to date problems. Now Arjun Kapoor has been finalised for the film and he has signed the dotted lines.”

According to the source, Arjun will play a typical Delhi boy who falls in love with a south Indian girl and the film will be shot in the national capital. I admire people who always look effortlessly good: Imran Khan

Imran Khan is a classy dresser and takes pride in calling his style statement eccentric

He tells CS, “I admire people who always look effortlessly good, classy and stylish. I completely admire Paul Newman, Steve Mcqueen, Robert Redford, who never try too hard and still looks so good.

They are just good quality non-branded clothes worn with a personal style and great confidence. In Bollywood, I think Saif (Ali Khan) dresses very well and Arjun Rampal always looks really good.”

It’s just possible that someone might have you on a similar list Imran!

Is Imran out of Karan Johar's film?

Apparently, Imran Khan is being replaced in Karan Johar's next owing to his conflicting timetable

The mystery over who will play the lead role in the Bollywood adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel 2 States deepens. While Imran Khan was said to be keen to do the film, buzz is that he had to opt out of it.

Apparently, the reason is that the actor’s dates for this Abhishek Verman helmed project were clashing with his next venture that he has signed with Tigmanshu Dhulia.

A source close to the film said, “Imran was very keen to do the film and also loved the subject of the film. He had even read the book and wanted the film to start next year. However, co-producer Sajid Nadiadwala was very keen that the film goes on the floors in November this year.

However Imran expressed his inability to shoot in November as he had already committed his dates to Tigmanshu Dhulia’s film. He also wanted some days off to promote his film with Vishal Bharadwaj.”

The source adds, “So, Sajid and Karan have decided that they would be looking for an ideal replacement for the film and have already zeroed down on a couple of names whom they are talking to.”

Incidentally the film was earlier scheduled to star SRK in the lead role and was to be directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. Even Ranbir Kapoor was supposed to do the film. However, after that Imran took over from Ranbir. Imran Khan and Karan Johar remained unavailable for comment.

Emraan beats Ranbir, Imran Khan: To romance Kareena or Katrina

Emraan beats Ranbir, Imran Khan: To romance Kareena or Katrina
Four back-to-back hits and a rousing performance in his latest release Shanghai, and Emraan Hashmi seems to be going places. From the time when A-lister heroines shied away from working with him… ‘cut’ to Kareena and Katrina both being prime candidates to pair opposite Emraan.

Yup, the Mahesh Bhatt protégé has come a long way.

We’ve now learnt from an extremely reliable source that Emraan has pipped the competition namely Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan, to play the lead in the first joint production of Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor.

Says the source, “The merger of Karan’s Dharma and Ekta’s Balajee is monumental and the cast has to reflect the importance of the union. The film to be directed by newbie Akhshoy Roy is an edgy love story.

An unconventional devil-may-care 27-28 year-old hero was needed. Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan were the immediate choices. But then Emraan who is currently Balajee’s blue-eyed boy seemed the best bet. ”

Interestingly Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have been approached to play Emraan’s love interest.

Says the source, “Both Karan and Ekta feel the Emraan-Katrina pair would be magic. ”

However Katrina’s dates don’t seem to be working out. Curiously after the overhwhelming response to Chikni chameli for Dharma’s Agneepath nothing seems to be working out between Karan and Katrina. A case of mismatched kundlis, perhaps?

Apparently Katrina loved the script.

“But she wouldn’t be able to find a window in her schedule for the film, ” says a source close to Katrina.

Imran Khan wants Delhi Belly 2

Imran Khan wants Delhi Belly 2Imran Khan needs Delhi Belly 2Imran Khan, the film’s lead actor, is all for the film’s sequel. At the same time, Khan maintains that the sequel shouldn’t be rushed into. A proper script that justifies the need for a sequel should be put in place first.

“Delhi Belly ended on a note that leaves the scope for a sequel. If and when Akshat Verma (writer) and Abhinay Deo (director) come up with a script, I would love to be a part of it,” Imran says. Imran also doesn’t mind the generous use of expletives in the dialogues, which will be in the sequel as well, whenever Delhi Belly 2 is made. Presently, Imran is looking forward to the release of his next film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with Katrina Kaif. Imran recently said that Katrina is the most hardworking actress he has worked with so far. Meanwhile, coming back to Delhi Belly 2, we’re sure opinions will be divided over whether the sequel should be made or not. So we ask you. Do you want Delhi Belly 2? Or do you think ‘shit’ shouldn’t ‘happen’ again?

Kiran Rao defends the song D K Bose

Producer Kiran Rao stated that the lyric of D K Bose is just fine. There is nothing wrong in it. It is just a name like that of Munni or Sheila.

The director of Ra One, Abhinay Deo was pretty upset with the lyrics of the song and stated that it is likely to have a wrong impact on children.

He is even shocked as to how can a responsible producer like Aamir Khan include such a song in his upcoming home production Delhi Belly starring his nephew Imran Khan in the lead role.

Kiran further added that the lyric of the song is funny and it talks about a loser who is not lucky enough. The filmmakers had no intention of hurting anybody.

If one has a problem with the lyrics of the song he/she better not listen to it. Delhi Belly is a bold film.

It has received an A certificate from the censor board and it is scheduled to hit theatres on 1st July.

Kareena gives Imran a cool make-over

Kareena gives Imran a cool make-overKareena Kapoor will play the role of Imran Khan’s hairstylist in Karan Johar’s upcoming flick “Short Term Shaadi”. In the film Imran will sport two looks.

In the first half he will adopt a formal look and a funky look in the second half. A source stated “Imran plays a rigid, conservative and fussy architect in the film, who falls in love with Kareena Kapoor, a liaison which changes him completely.”

“Kareena plays a hairstylist who teaches him about life and love. The film has been shot in Las Vegas and India and will be directed by Shakun Batra.”

To give authenticity to her role, Kareena learned some hairstyling techniques from her personal stylist Pompy.

In real life however, it is Imran’s close friend Ayesha, who styles his hair for all his films. Imran stated “The film takes place in a compressed time frame of a little more than a week and deals with how my character changes within that short span of time.”

“In the first half, my character is prim, proper and very fussy about the way his life should be. I wear starched, neatly ironed outfits and formal three-piece suits with polished shoes.”

The actor said further, “My hair is always neatly combed. Kareena enters my life and gives me a cool makeover and a different, spicier hairstyle.”

He said, “She comes into my dull and drab life like a breath of fresh air and makes me see things differently.”

Imran gets 16 slaps from Katrina to construct the scene perfect

Imran gets 16 slaps from Katrina to construct the scene perfectImran Khan seems to be following his mamu, Amir Khan’s steps in becoming a perfectionist, but what he didn't expect was that he might have to get slapped 16 times instead of just once and pay the price for being the “perfect” one.

In ‘ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ starring Imran Khan and opposite to him, Katrina Kaif, the actor had to take 16 slaps from Kaif during one of its shoots and what is more surprising is that the scene from the scrip required just one slap but it was Imran himself who insisted that Katrina should slap him more, infact 16 times.

When Katrina was asked about this strange request of Imran, she replied that she would have slapped just once and moved on but Imran insisted that it should be more realistic and called a boy to count the number of slaps and it had to 16 precisely not more not less. She didnt even know why he had to be slapped 16 times exactly.

Even though this request of Imran came as a surprise to Katrina, she is not very proud of slapping him so many times but she definitely is happy about the slaps being completely real and authentic. It is weird seeing Imran’s sheer interest in getting slapped so many times, would he have done the same had it been a kissing scene ?

Katrina Kaif injured on the sets of Yash Raj Film

Katrina Kaif injury on the sets of Yash Raj FilmBollywood beauty Katrina Kaif suffered an injury on the sets of Yash Raj Film's untitled project with Imran Khan. The film is being shot at Pataudi Palace in Haryana. The actress was hurt during filming and ended up with a bloody nose, due to an error of judgment on her co-star's part.

Strangely, she was hurt in the same spot where she'd been previously injured during the shoot of Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani when Ranbir accidentally landed a blow on her face. A source from the sets reveals what happened. "They were shooting a funny scene in which Imran is holding a gun in his hand and Katrina is by his side. He had to move around and pull Kat toward him with the other hand. But while shooting, he accidentally smashed the barrel of his gun on Katrina's nose. It happened in a split second and her nose started bleeding.

"Everyone panicked because there was blood oozing from her nose. The shooting stopped and she was escorted to the vanity van. A doctor was called on the set and she was administered first aid. After a while the bleeding stopped, but she was still in pain," said a source.

"Yes, I got hit in the same place as I did during Ajab. I am pretty bruised but the staff feels it's good luck for the film. But it was a funny scene so I think it was worth it."

Sonam Kapoor : Imran is sexy

The joshing and joking between Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor only goes to show that they are the next hot couple of Bollywood. Moreover, the duo has got a thumbs-up from critics as well. Their chemistry is the USP of this Friday release I Hate Luv Storys. No wonder they can’t stop complimenting one another, when they are not pulling each other’s leg, that is in a latest report

Sonam says that when she first saw Imran in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, she found him “hot”. She loved his ripe lips and Maybelline eyelashes. But Imran is quite dismissive about himself. He doesn’t think he’s sexy. “I think he is (sexy). In fact, Imran is gorgeous,” Sonam is quoted as saying. However, Sonam was quick to add that she likes John Abraham’s butt better. Well, now Imran has something to work on.
