Can Kangna Ranaut take on Madhuri Dixit?

Can Kangna Ranaut take on Madhuri Dixit?
It isn’t going to be easy for Kangna Ranaut to match steps with the nimble-footed Madhuri Dixit in Dedh Ishqiya. Madhuri, we hear, will be doing plenty of dancing for the Ishqiya sequel. And Kangna playing her pyari saheli would have to join in. Director Abhishek Choubey has apparently asked the junior actress to brush up her dancing.

Luckily Madhuri and and Kangna get along like a house on fire. It’s going to be a blast from the past for Madhuri Dixit and Kangna Ranaut in Dedh Ishqiya, the sequel to the successful 2010 black comedy Ishqiya about an uncle-nephew pair, played by Naseruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi, and their adventures when they landed at the doorstep of a wily widow in rural Uttar Pradesh.

The sequel takes the maama-bhanja to Lucknow into a highly cultured Muslim family where the two ladies Madhuri Dixit and Kangna Ranaut, would be romanced by the Uncle and Nephew, respectively.

Director Abhishek Choubey says the idea was to place the Naseer and Arshad characters in a completely different milieu

Says Choubey, “Repetition is death for me. I was against doing a sequel in the first place, because no matter how one looks at it, a sequel is an extension of the first film. But then when I finally decided on doing Dedh Ishqiya I decided to put the characters in a totally different ambience. ”

Choubey this time takes his Ishqiya heroes to Lucknow, and into the near-extinct genre known as the Muslim Social.

Says the director, “I want to revive that old-world Nabobi charm of ornate architecture, the tehzeeb and the adaas that we saw in Muslim Socials like Mere Mehboob, Mere Huzoor, Chaudhvin Ka Chand and Nikaah.

Of course the genre would be contemporized. But the essence of the genre, the flavour of the period, its essence and grace and most important the decadence of that Nabobi culture, would remain. ”

Apparently Madhuri and Kangna would be playing two friends. Madhuri being a natural-born classical dancer would be seen doing a lot of singing and dancing.

Says Choubey, “Music was very important to Ishqiya and so it will remain in Dedh Ishqiya, though this time the songs and music would be very different. Yes, Madhuri would be doing a lot of singing and dancing. ”

After getting dumped by Rascals, Paris Hilton to sue Kangana

After getting dumped by Rascals, Paris Hilton to sue KanganaSources say Kangna Ranaut was deliberately excluded from the title track of her estranged pal's forthcoming film

While Kangna Ranaut may deny a fall-out with Sanjay and Maanayata, she certainly can't ignore the consequences of rubbing the Dutts the wrong way!

In the title track of the forthcoming Rascals, the actress has apparently been deliberately left out, despite having enough time to shoot for the same.

The rest of the cast Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Lisa Haydon have been featured in the song.

Incidentally Lisa, who featured in Aisha, was roped in the film after the filiming had started and a role was specially written for her.

Sources say the move to exclude her was intentional, as by the time it was shot during their recent Thailand schedule, relations between Sanju (who is also the film's producer) and Kangs had strained even further. As a result, director David Dhawan decided to shoot it only with the threesome.

Kangna was at one time extremely close to the Dutts. But when she started making statements about her proximity to them, it left them flummoxed.

After getting dumped by Rascals, Paris Hilton to sue Kangana Also, Ameesha Patel, who is also dear to the couple, was dragged into it as Kangna felt she had become more close to them than Ameesha. And, of course, not to mention she recently turned down an offer to star opposite Sanju Baba.

Guess Kangs still needs to learn a thing or two about maintaining good relations in B-Town!

Paris to sue Kangs?

Kangna Ranaut claimed she was approached to be the face of Paris Hilton Fashions in India. But Paris, extremely miffed about the false news, is planning to sue the actress.

Her reps have stated that Kangna was never approached.

Kangs met Paris in Dubai courtesy Paris's friendship with her ex Adhyayan Suman but no such deal was offered and nor does Paris remember Kangna.

Kapoor: Ranaut is very stylish

Sonam Kapoor: Kangna Ranaut is very stylishThursday was Sonam Kapoor’s birthday and like the professional actress she is, she spent the day shooting for Mausam, her upcoming film opposite Shahid Kapoor. About any chances of her being linked with Shahid, Sonam says, “Thankfully, I haven't been linked with him. I am very fond of Shahid. He’s a dear friend and a great co-star and whichever girl he ends up with will be very lucky.

Sonam’s just back from Cannes and she says that the Red Carpet experience was awesome, but when asked about foraying into Hollywood, she says, “It depends. I have always felt that it doesn’t matter what language the film is in, it depends on the role I am offered, the project, the director and the story. Of course, I would love to do something with a brilliant director.”

Recently chosen as the face of the India International Jewellery Week, we ask what jewellery means to her. “Jewellery making is an art form, there is a lot of creativity involved and it’s an excellent investment. I love emeralds, rubies, sapphires, everything. But there is a certain classic quality to diamonds and that will always be in,” she says, adding that her father Anil Kapoor is not very good when it comes to buying jewellery.

Given the few films she has done, Sonam is already in the big league when it comes it endorsements. She, however, says, “I am doing enough for myself. It is better to concentrate on a few (products) which have quality. I have always decided to endorse the best.”

When asked about which Bollywood heroine, according to her, was the most fashionable, she says, “Karishma Kapoor and Twinkle Khanna are on my list of very fashionable people. I also find Kangana Ranaut very stylish.”

Ranaut's and Gerard Butler's Hot Romance Rumors

Kangana Ranaut's and Gerard Butler's Hot Romance RumorsGerard Butler is a friend of Bollywood so it comes as no surprise that the Hollywood actor has been linked to B-town beauty Kangana Ranaut! First the 300 actor became friends with Priyanka Chopra, then Ranbir Kapoor and now he's been spotted with Kangana! Looks like Butler is eyeing a career in Bollywood! We already told you that Gerard Butler is good buddies with Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra. But now the buzz in B-town is that the Bounty Hunter actor has become close friends with Kangana after meeting her at one of Priyanka's parties. The two even met up recently in the U.S. when Kangana was shooting a movie.

The Scotsman spent some time in India last year and his time was not lost on his B-town buddies who threw him one party after the other. After hanging out with Shahrukh Khan, the 300 star moved on to Priyanka who spent some quality time with the popular actor and organized a star-studded bash at her house in his honor.

Gerard even went to Jaipur where Priyanka was filming What's Your Raashee with Harman Baweja. It seems Mr. Butler was curious to learn about how Bollywood works and went to the movie set where Priyanka introduced him to the cast and crew, including director Ashutosh Gowarikar.

When Priyanka was filming Anjaana Anjaani in New York City with Ranbir, the two actors started chatting and soon became real buddies! Maybe we will soon see the Hollywood hunk make a cameo in one of Ranbir's movies? Or why not opposite Kangana?

Abhishek, Kangana to play husband and wife in RGV's 'Department

After delivering a two part film 'Rakta Charitra’ last year, Ram Gopal Varma, who is now attempting to bring a dark action drama for his next tilted ‘Department’, has signed in actors Kangana Ranaut and Abhishek Bachchan as the main leads in the film.

‘Department’ will be the second film for Kangana and Abhishek as the duo has earlier shared screen space in their upcoming film ‘Game’. Interestingly in this forthcoming RGV film, Abhishek and Kangana will be seen playing husband and wife.

Abhishek, Kangana to play husband and wife in RGV's 'DepartmentOther than these two actors, the filmmaker is also bringing in Amitabh and Sanjay Dutt with interesting roles in ‘Department’. Speaking about the story of this dark thriller, RGV stated, “The story is about three cops and the extra-constitutional activities they engage in to maintain a civil society. Kangana is the only person in the world that Abhishek's character can share his agony with. She plays a very intense role in this dark, gritty and real drama.”

Varma impressed with Kangana
RGV, who has signed Kangana on Monday, stated that he roped in the actress for ‘Department’ after seeing her breathtaking performance in films like ‘Gangster’ and ‘Woh Lamhe’.

"I wondered why we haven't worked together as yet! Kangna very much fits into my vision as a filmmaker. She is intense and emotional on screen.

I've wanted to work with her, from the time she appeared in Gangster and Woh Lamhe. But I didn't want to cast her in anything insignificant. The role had to justify her presence,” stated Varma.

Kangana spotted with Salman It’s heard that recently Salman, who was in Mehboob studio busy shooting promos for ‘Ready’ with Asin, had wrapped up his shoot immediately after he came to know that Kangana was shooting in the same studio.

Speaking about Salman and Kangana enjoying each other’s company, a source stated, “He's extremely fond of her. The fact that he was extremely eager to spend time with her on the sets, speaks volumes. She, too, was excited about having him around.”

Tanu Weds Manu in German version

You may think that the hardcore desi small-town ambience of this season's surprise hit Tanu Weds Manu is unlikely to go down well with foreign audiences. But hang on. Now there will be a dubbed German version of the romantic comedy.

Tanu Weds Manu in German versionA delegation from Germany landed in Mumbai last week with the express purpose of seeing the new festive hit of Bollywood. So bowled over were the Germans by the unabashed celebration of colour and gaiety in Tanu Weds Manu that now a German version of the film is being prepared.

'It was a group of students of Comparative Cinema from the University of Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany. My colleague fellow-filmmaker Hansal Mehta sent these students to me. I was surprised that they wanted to see Tanu Weds Manu, and even more surprised at the way they responded to the film,' said director Aanand Rai.

The film stars R Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut as two people who are poles apart but still they fall in love. Apparently the German students were keenly curious about the most minute nuances in the film. 'They asked questions about the wedding proceedings that even I had never asked myself. It was just so reassuring to know that my film about small town culture connected so deeply with them,' said Rai.

The German delegation has returned home and has immediately initiated plans to release Tanu Weds Manu in a dubbed German version. 'Tanu Weds Manu is making inroads in places where Bollywood cinema is not a priority. I suppose my honesty of purpose showed up on screen,' said the excited director.

Kangna Ranaut not wearing bikini in her next flick

Kangna Ranaut not wearing bikini her next flickShe refused to wear a bikini for a scene that has Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn ogling at her. Kangna Ranaut, known for her insatiable ability to sport the quirkiest and the most fashionable outfits in Bollywood, recently shied away from wearing a bikini.

This turned out to be a volte-face because the actress had agreed to wear it initially and was in fact quite excited about it. But last week, while shooting for David Dhawan's Rascals, Kangna suddenly threw a big fit on one of the beaches in Thailand, when Dhawan asked her to wear her bikini.

Even the lead actors Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn could not convince her. The incident was doubly shocking because Kangna had apparently shopped for the two-piece herself.

And given her past inclination to design and make her own clothes, this only reaffirmed the fact that she was confident about wearing the bikini. Says a source, "Kangna had even told her friends that she was very excited to wear a two-piece and was looking forward to the day. Nobody could understand what prompted her to change her mind."

The shooting was stalled for nearly four hours after Kangna threw a fit. The source adds, "Usko bahut samjhaya lekin who nahin mani. One could understand if Dhawan had not informed her about the bikini earlier, she would have been fair then. But that was so not the case.

Why did the otherwise self-assured actress develop cold feet all of a sudden? The buzz is that on learning that the scene had Sanjay and Ajay ogling at her bikini, Kangna decided not to wear it. In the scene, she is expected to come out of the ocean water, much like James Bond's girlfriend, while Sanju and Ajay ogle at her itsy-witsy get-up.

Another source says, "Kangna felt that she had put on a lot of weight during the making of Tanu Weds Manu." Naturally, Kangna did not want the bikini to accentuate the flab instead of the fab body.

Bygones would have been bygones if Kangna hadn't flown back to Mumbai days after this incident happened. Rumour has it that David Dhawan was unhappy when Kangna returned to Mumbai for the promotions of Tanu Weds Manu, bang in the middle of her Rascals shooting schedule. "He had combinations dates for Sanjay, Ajay and her, so he expected her to be there in Thailand with the guys. But she was adamant to go. So Dhawan had to speed up the shoots a bit."

Kangna returned to Thailand on Thursday night. Adds the source, "The on-going schedule will get over by the end of this week. Things have been sorted out now and she may end up wearing the bikini eventually." David Dhawan and Kangna Ranaut remained unavailable for comment. But rumor has it that Kangna's physical trainer, who has put her on a crash diet, is traveling with her now. No more excuses, Kangna.

Kangna Ranaut: Madhubala motivate Kangna for 'Tanu Weds Manu'

Actress Kangna Ranaut, who plays a spirited small town girl in 'Tanu Weds Manu', says she was inspired by Madhubala's persona to develop her character.

Kangna Ranaut: Madhubala motivate Kangna for 'Tanu Weds Manu'

The film tells the story of two individuals who are thrown together by destiny and director Aanand L Rai had Madhubala in mind while conceiving Kangna's character.

"Aanand was very clear about the tone he wanted to adopt for the movie. He told me that he wasn't pitting me against the heroines of our times but instead had Madhubala in mind. Of course he didn't mean that in terms of the look or setting, but in the spirit of the film and the character," said Kangna.

The actress, who was last seen playing a arrogant fashionista in Anees Bazmee's 'No Problem', is happy to play a character rather than being concerned with the trappings of being a quintessential Bollywood heroine.

"My character in the film is not glamorous. She is audacious but very lovable character. She is from a very cultured Kanpur family, who has studied in Delhi University. But then she also likes to shock people and have a bit of fun."

R. Madhavan: I am attracted to Kangana

Actor R. Madhavan really enjoyed working with National Award winning actress Kangana Ranaut in " Tanu Weds Manu", so much so that the multi-lingual star admits he has become fond of her and would like to do more films with the pretty actress.

R. Madhavan: I am attracted to Kangana"I am very fond of Kangana and attracted to her. I feel she is an extremely competent actor, very professional and she has actively contributed to the role for the first time," Madhavan told. "As an actor, I have never worked with a heroine who does that. They (other heroines) are happy doing what the script demands from them but Kangana is the one who was pushing the envelope. I hope I can do another film with Kangana, I really enjoyed working with her," he said.

Madhavan rubbished a media report that said he was angry with Kangana as she was hogging the limelight in the film's promotion. "Unfortunately, it's wrong news," he said. "Kangana is shooting in Bangkok, so she did her character's (Tanu) promotion earlier," he said. "There is absolutely no reason to be upset with her and I am really missing her."

Directed by Anand Rai, "Tanu Weds Manu" is set to hit theatres Feb 25. It is a romantic comedy, which shows how two seemingly opposite natured people fall in love. "I don't know why this romantic tag stuck with me for so long.

They (directors) want it, so I give them that. I am not going to fight it. This is a different kind of romantic story. It's not a cliche 'hold my hand and get into a fight' later on kind of story. It's very real and I don't remember if I have seen such a romantic film ever," said Madhavan, who plays the role of Manu in the film.

About the film, Madhavan said: "Manu is brought up in a small town in a middle class family, very happy with whatever his parents have in mind for him, no rebellious quality unnecessarily. He goes to London, spends eight to nine years and comes back with his tradition intact, like most Indian guys, who go from a small town, do.

"What happens is you forget that in the span of time of your staying abroad, your town has changed-McDonalds, MTV, all have come in and people are having flings for the sake of it and suddenly there is a complete mismatch in the opposite direction. "You are an Indian, she is westernized, you are a conformist, she is rebellious and there is a mismatch. But love has its own course."

The character is semantic to most of the foreign-returned small town guys, said Madhavan. "It rarely happens that one who goes abroad, returns with a foreigner wife or girlfriend, smoking and speaking with an accent. Ninety percent come back being more Indian than they were."The reigning star of the south is eager to offer varied shades of characters to his Hindi audience.

"In the south, I have done some really dynamic characters, really brutal and masculine ones. Unfortunately, the Hindi guys haven't seen that angry guy in me as yet. So if a script like that comes along, I would really love to do (the role of) an angry young man now," said Madhavan.

"I think I am competent in comedy. Even 'Tanu Weds Manu' is comical but it has no comedy, it's humorous. But I would love to do a comedy film. I just did a hard-core comedy film in Tamil, which did very well," said Madhavan. The actor revealed that he has signed two more Hindi films but refrained from giving any details.

Kangana Ranaut's awesome intervention….

Kangana Ranaut's awesome intervention….Tinsel town starlets looking for endowments of God prior to the release of their pictures have ended up being a standard now-a-days.

Prior we caught Katrina Kaif visiting the mausoleum Ajmer Sharif prior to the release of her flicks Namaste London, Singh is Kinng, New York and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, every last trace of the flicks were hit at the crate office. All the more Shilpa Shetty and Aishwarya Rai are additionally the robust fans of the God as they feel that prayers have fabulous unyieldingness.

Kangana Ranaut too stepped out for religious devotion recently. She visited the Tirupati Balaji temple to offer prayers for the success of her upcoming flick ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.

She was quoted as saying, “I went to Tirupati last week with my brother and sister, for the first time since coming to Mumbai. We go to Vaishno Devi more often. But when I came to Mumbai, people kept telling me to visit the Tirupati Balaji temple. I wanted to, for many years now, but work commitments kept coming in the way. I was determined to go this time around. The trip was hectic and stressful but worth it. I loved my experience there. He (Balaji) is so powerful.

Kangana was keen on divine intervention for her film “It’s a film that is very special to me. I had a close brush with death and almost lost my leg while shooting for the film so I have literally given my blood, sweat and tears for it. It’s a film that’s like my special child. I had gone to seek blessings for the film at Tirupati.”

Kangna Ranaut & Mallika Sherawat shared cold vibes

Her recent films like Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam, Fauj Main Mauj and Hisss... may have been damp squibs at the box office, but that has not stopped Mallika Sherawat from throwing her weight around. After a couple of international ventures and making place for herself in Hollywood, Sherawat believes in having a high handed attitude. And Kangna Ranaut has been subjected to some unfriendly treatment by Mallika. The two actresses share screen space in Dhamaal 2. Source said, “Mallika and Kangna kept their distance from each other from day one. On the sets, the two shared cold vibes. Yet, both actresses were thorough professionals. They did their shots and retreated to their respective vans."

Kangna Ranaut & Mallika Sherawat parcel frigid vibes

At a recent press conference, Mallika Sherawat refused to share the dais with Malaika Arora Khan. The two are to perform at a New Year's eve bash. Kangana Ranaut is not ready to assume MMS scandal

Kangana Ranaut is not ready to assume MMS scandalKangana Ranaut is one of the most exceptionally hazarding actresses in Bollywood. She possesses no qualms doing spectacular roles equally extended as they are testing.

And then her pictures like Gangster, Life in a Metro, Fashion and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai are revealing enough. Surprisingly, this same striking character is not ready to assume MMS scandal.

Balaji Telefilms approached Kangana to act in its next film Raginni MMS, based on MMS scandal, but she turned down the offer. It seems the actress backed out because of the explicit content and the amount of graphic content.

Producer Ekta Kapoor has confirmed that Kangana has turned down the offer of her production house owing to its explicit content. Now, she is on a look out for a new face for the film.

Kangana ranaut & Sanjay Dutt in Koffee with Karan

Kangana ranaut & Sanjay Dutt in Koffee with Karan togatherIn what can easily be deemed the funniest Koffee with Karan episode, Anil Kapoor came out to claim that Sanjay Dutt is in fact his senior. The duo joined Karan Johar on the couch as they spoke all things movies and No Problem, their movie that released this past Friday. The buddies, who didn't work together for the first time until much later in Musafir, bared their souls as they spoke about being fathers, acting and working in the industry. Anil Kapoor explained his picky choosy nature while Sanjay Dutt spoke about his bindaas attitude to life and films. Anil said he found having a daughter in the industry "great but stressful" referring to Sonam Kapoor of course. New Dad Sanjay, spoke at length about being a father all over again and his relationship with strayed daughter Trishala.

Joining them was Kangna Ranaut who came on midway and was advised by Sanjay Dutt to wear more traditional wear as opposed to the designer gown she adorned. She too spoke volumes about her past relationships, married men, plastic surgery – which she flat out denied and flirting! In fact, she went on to reveal that she has tried "talking" to Akshaye Khanna, her co-star in No Problem, several times and was ignored. "He doesn’t talk!" she exclaimed. However, she did say that her new best friend in the industry was Sushmita Sen with whom she shares a warm relationship. Anil Kapoor went on to add that he simply loved Sen’s "morning hugs" while Sanju added that Sen still manages to out speak him.

All talk turned to the common factor: Madhuri Dixit. Favorite co-star Anil Kapoor said he didn’t like to hear anything negative about her while alleged ex-flame Sanjay Dutt said she should head home to the kids instead of working in films and on television. It was the latter that won the Rapid Fire round despite Anil’s honest and witty answers.

In other news, No Problem has been deemed a complete washout. So disappointed were the star of the films that they all refused to attend the pre-planned Success Bash. Instead, they all claimed they were busy with other plans. In turn, the party was cancelled. Next week, Karan will chat with on and off lovers Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

Kangana Ranaut to miss the festivals

Kangna Ranaut & Abhishek Bachchan together in 'Game' (Movie Taller)

The trailer for Abhinay Deo's new film looks pretty darned slick. Frantically flashing lights signal Istanbul, where Abhishek Bachchan is introduced to us as a druglord, talking about a Latin phrase but saying just a word, something Kangna Ranaut translates. More lights, and we're in Bangkok, with Boman Irani as a politician.

Next is London, with Shahana Goswami as a journalist, the actress nicely sporting a hipster-grunge new look while getting her police mugshot taken. Then comes Mumbai, where Jimmy Shergill is a movie star, getting shot on a set.

Scarlet dice roll. 'Four strangers,' says the text as we see Anupam Kher and Gauhar Khan waiting. 'Invited to an island...For one reason.' And this is when we cut to a scorching hot, sensational Sarah Jane Dias, here called Maya. Clearly she can carry off red lipstick real good. As a club song kicks in, there is a montage of her and Abhishek getting it on...

And then a crash. 'That was my daughter', Kher says as the four strangers sit around, damned. 'I've been collecting evidence. All four of you are finished.'

And then we see Kangna, an intelligence officer, keeping tabs on all four. Motives are thrown up -- Power, Fame, Truth, Love amid a crisp, well-cut montage of chases, gunfights, standoffs. "It's not over," Kangna wryly smiles.

A pawn falls into a pool of blood, the letters Game emerge before an hourglass shatters, telling us we'll see this gang in March 2011. Looking good, Mr Deo. Decidedly one of the better trailers in recent times, even though it does give away more than an inkling of the story. Or does it?

Either way, it looks intriguing. Bachchan looks more fun than he has in ages, Goswami and Gauhar are always fun to watch, and if Sarah Jane Dias can act as good as she can stun, whoa.

Let's wait and watch, we're keeping tabs on this one.
