Anushka Sharma has now notched up her third straight success in a row with 'Band Baaja Baaraat' doing quite well at the box office. Before that, she has enjoyed some great times with 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' (Superhit) and 'Badmaash Company (Semi hit). Nevertheless, doesn't this girl from Bangalore feel disheartened that despite enjoying a cent percent record so far, she is yet to get her due?

"I am sure things will fall in place sooner or later," smiles Anushka who would next be seen in 'Patiala House' opposite Akshay Kumar, "If your work is not good and you are known only for your public appearances, your market value will eventually die it's natural death. This is the reason why I don't add any frills around me."She is hopeful though that things would change for better in due course of time.

"I would get the kind of respect and appreciation that I deserve in the industry. Let my body of work reach out to people," she says with her chin up, "I have immense confidence in myself. Eventually I think that if your work is good then people will sit up and notice that. There would be a wow factor that come in by itself."Well, one hopes so for sure Anushka with 'Patiala House' all set to hit the screens on 11th February.

Dabangg - Movie of the year 2010

The year has come to a close and it’s time to salute the winners of the box-office battle. But instead of crowning the highest grosser, we’ve selected movies that earned well in multiples of the money invested in them. In the trade world, everyone from analysts and theater owners to head honchos of multiplexes and distributors had a unanimous answer in terms of return on investment, the number one film of 2010 is Dabangg, which made `140 crore. Komal Nahta, editor of Film Information, asserts, “Dabangg is the highest earner of the year. Not only did it do phenomenally at the box-office, it also fetched a great price for the satellite rights. The music too continued to do well long after the film’s release.

One reason why Dabangg was made at a reasonable cost is that there’s nothing big in the movie except for Salman Khan. According to Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Films Ltd, “The director and heroine were both new. The film didn’t boast of extravagant sets or exclusive outdoors, so the production cost was automatically in control, at 32 crore minus Salman’s fee. In terms of volume, it returned about 300 per cent.”

Question them about Ekta Kapoor’s relatively economical Love Sex Aur Dhoka directed by Dibakar Bannerjee, which cost about 4 crore and grossed over 10 crore, and Mumbai distributor Ramesh Sippy says, “Although LSD had a turnover much in excess of its cost, it’s not an all-India hit nor will it go down memory lane. It is a commendable effort that paid off very well, but the fact remains that Dabangg worked all across.”

In the same vein, Suneil Wadhwa, a major distributor from CP (north India) territory, adds that universal appeal makes Dabangg the numero uno movie of 2010. “It worked equally well in single screens and multiplexes, in all centers from big metros to small towns, and struck a chord with the audience. Every distributor and exhibitor made money,” he explains.

The trade market shares a similar stance on Golmaal 3 being the second biggest hit of the year. “Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor were the biggest actors and it maintained a good risk-reward ratio. Being a Diwali release, it not only opened very well, but also went on to do good business in the third and fourth weeks, crossing over 100 crore,” says Delhi-based distributor Sanjay Mehta. Interestingly, Golmaal 3 scored over Dabangg in the Mumbai territory.

While a section of the trade put Prakash Jha’s political drama Raajneeti at number three, trade analyst Amod Mehra feels I Hate Love Storys, too, makes the grade. “Costing about `25 crore, it returned about `45 crore, which is very good,” he says, adding that Sajid Khan’s Housefull comes next, making the top five.

Apart from these, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and Peepli Live too make it to the hit category while Ishqiya and Tere Bin Laden are said to have done average business. Sanjay Ghai says Shankar’s Robot (Hindi) too did well earning 30 crore, while the figures of the Tamil original aren’t being disclosed by Sun, which produced and distributed the Rajnikanth-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sci-fi extravaganza. Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol did very well internationally, but according to Ashish Saxena, CEO, Big Cinemas, “It didn’t make money for Fox Star, which distributed the film worldwide.”

As she has been a part of the modelling and ramp show world, getting into a two-piece for Help was no big deal for Mugdha Godse. The actress has done some bare-dare scenes for the horror thriller that has Bobby Deol as her co-star. Effects of Not Drinking Coffee for 2 weeks!

Admitting that I am a coffee-holic is easy! I'm not the only addict especially in this modern fast world of ours, right? No big deal. I used to take a few cups daily of my favorite coffee 3 n 1 mixture. I used to drink during breakfast, a few hours after lunch, then in evening, before bedtime.. sometimes at midnight during long hours of cramming for examinations and preparing school projects. My coffee was my best companion especially when I was too occupied with school/work, when I was stressed and tired and needed a sudden boost of energy to stimulate my senses. Coffee is stimulating. It makes you instantly alert and attentive. Plus the antioxidants! The good things about coffee...

How about the not so good side effects of coffee. Coffee is addicting. And if you take too much of coffee with all the caffeine in it, it gives unpleasant results. Coffee stimulates the Central Nervous System causing an increase of "stress hormones", which makes you wide alert and attentive. But in the long run, this hurts our system. Imagine taking coffee everyday with that stress hormones in your body increasing day by day with every sip. This prevents one from relaxing. So eventually the drinker gets more stressed, lowering the immune system. Other side effects of coffee are fatigue, heart palpitations, irritability, bad skin condition, dry skin, sagging eyes and pimples! Oh yes girls, coffee can affect our looks and can trigger skin problems like pimple attacks! If you are having pimples and you don't know the culprit, and you are a coffee drinker, why not take the challenge to stop drinking coffee for a week or two and you will see an improvement in your skin condition.

Here's my story:

I refused amidst the violent protest of my inner self to drink coffee (and soda). It was a struggle at first. But I succeeded in not drinking coffee for 2 weeks. A forced deprivation! My sole intention was to see how my skin will improve without the caffeine on my system.

And the results??? Amazing indeed! My skin improved tremendously. Just after three days of no coffee, I noticed my facial skin looked plump, fresh, renewed and not dry. The skin around my eyes improved as well. Best of all, on the third day, I did not see any new pimple coming. And the pimple free skin continued for the duration of 2 weeks.  (I was worried only about the scars then)

So, my personal tip, if you have pimples, try skipping coffee and soda and you will see your skin condition will improve. Give it two weeks at least.

By the way, the other day, I drank coffee, as I really missed how it taste, and guess what,  a new zit just came out. Now I felt sorry. Anyway, I'm back to not drinking coffee again!

Anushka rejected the lead in a Hindi film

While Illeana is happily doing her second lead in her maiden Bollywood film, Anushka is refusing to do the lead in a Hindi movie. Normally, any heroine would die for a lead role in a big Hindi movie.

But Anushka shows no interest. Recently, she was offered the role in a Bollywood flick, remake of the Tamil movie Singam in which she did the lead role. But Anushka didn't accept it.
