To decline an offer to work with someone as big as Rajinikanth takes huge guts. And when Bollywood’s living legend Rekha is in question, then it is nothing less than the clash of titans. Buzz has it that the evergreen diva has walked out of Rajinikanth’s ‘Rana’ due to monetary issue with the producers of the film.
If rumours are to be believed, Hema Malini might replace the legendary actress in the South Indian multi-starrer flick.
Talking to a daily, a source said, “Rekha was scheduled to be paired opposite the older Rajinikanth, while Deepika was all set to romance the younger one. However, there have been some monetary issues between Rekha and the producers. She in not keen to work in the film, unless she is paid what she thinks she deserves. The producers of the film, Ocher Studios, have now spoken to Hema Malini for the role and will be meeting her shortly. Rekha asked for around four crores for the film and the producers were not ready for such a huge amount. That’s why Rekha chose to walk out of the film.”
Earlier, Vidya Balan left ‘Rana’ when she was not provided with the full script of the film.
Speaking on Vidya reservations, a source revealed, “She was well within her rights to ask for the script but maybe, the South Indian director who has Rajinikanth as the leading star in his film did not like that.”
As of now, ‘Rana’, which was supposed to go on the floors in April 2011, is still on the lookout for two leading ladies.
