Eight years among Bollywood biggies may be quite a time. But actress Amrita Rao believes she still has a long way to go.
And to achieve this she has decided to say a strict no to other language films till she finds that the ground under feet in Bollywood is firm.
“Acting in a regional cinema requires a lot more time and it’s a whole new experience that calls for extra attention as well.
I want to concentrate on Hindi cinema for the moment and later think of moving on,” Amrita told Metrolife. Amrita has reason enough to feel confident that 2010 is going to be hers.
Three Bollywood offers are there before her, “I can’t really disclose much about the movies unless I start working on them,” she says.
Amrita is particular that the director and the leading man of the movie she acts in must be established names in the industry.
“I have always wanted to work with Imtiaz Ali and Vishal Bharadwaj. They think differently and come up with something new every time they embark on a new project,” she reasons.
Amrita thinks that unlike in the past there’s a whole new breed of young actors who have come on board. “There was a time when there wasn’t much choice and there was a dearth of young actors but now there’s fresh talent all over,” she says.
A self-confessed fan of Hrithik Roshan, she admits co-starring with him will be like a dream come true. And guess who else has caught her fancy? Shah Rukh Khan. “He is the most perfect co-star. If I were 15 years older then I could have worked as his leading lady,” she gushes.
Talking about South Indian films she says she hasn’t completely shunned it but would consider acting in it if some offer from someone has noted as Mani Ratnam or Suresh Menon comes along. “It has to be big,” she says emphatically.
It’s movies and more movies for Amrita for when she’s not shooting she’s watching films. “It’s entertainment and a great learning experience,” she says.
