Top Gun Coming Back To Theaters In 3D!

First Titanic…then The Lion King…and now a Tony Scott classic is going 3D!

That's right, folks! Tony's 2005 Keira Knightley-starring box office sensation Domino is getting the 3D treatment! JK!!!!!!

As much as we'd love to re-experience that piece of cinematic genius in a totally non-sarcastic way (ha!), the ACTUAL Tony Scott movie that's getting a 3D re-release is Top Gun!

The 2D-to-3D conversion is happening thanks to Legend3D.

Here's what the company's CEO Rob Hummel had to say about this major project:

"We think there is great potential for catalog titles in 3D, but studios have had trouble justifying the expense."

"As I understand it, they are planning to release it in 3D in early 2012, though I known they want to get Tony Scott’s approval before they go forward."

"I think Top Gun lends itself to 3D due to the aerial flight. You can have fun with 3D by bringing things off the screen if they are not attached to the edge of the screen."

If done correctly, the aerial flight scenes could definitely be cool, but we're not 100% sure that we need to watch this whole movie in 3D.
