Mohit Chauhan ties the knot with Prarthna


Well-known Bollywood playback singer Mohit Chauhan married journalist Prarthna Gehlot at a hotel here, family sources said. The marriage was a quiet and private affair.

A family member told that the marriage was solemnised Friday evening at a hotel in Barog, near Kasauli hills in Solan district. The guest list included only Mohit's close friends and family members.

Born to Krishana Rana and B.K. Rana, the singer belongs to Nahan in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh.

Mohit's wife works with an English magazine and hails from Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

Born in 1964 in Nahan in Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh, Mohit did his postgraduate degree in geology from Dharamsala.

He started his music career as the lead singer for the Dharamsala-based band - The Hijackers. They used do stage shows.

But he shot to fame with his Silk Route group which gave hit numbers - "Dooba dooba rehta hoon".

The song "Guncha Koi" in the movie 2005 "Main, Meri Patni... Aur Woh!" marked his entry into filmdom and he has given hit numbers like - "Khoon chala" and "Rang de basanti" from "Rang De Basanti", "Masakali" from "Delhi-6" and "Tum se hi" from "Jab We Met".

He has mostly sung popular English tracks or self-composed Hindi songs. He has also popularised 'pahari' or hill folk music.
