WHAT WENT WRONG


Men's Health magazine surveyed more than 275 divorced men to find out what went wrong, and what they learned:

84% of the men surveyed married at age 30 or younger
46% said the primary reason for divorce was "we just weren't right for each other"
41% said the primary reason for divorce was "she changed after we got married"
51% married because they were in love
38% made the commitment because it seemed like the next logical step
15% did it because they wanted kids
45% of men initiated the divorce
45% of these men 'often or sometimes' regret it
57% of these men lament that they see their kids less
28% miss coming home to someone
19% say they had a better connection with their ex-wife than they realized
15% say it's tough out there for a newly single man
26% of men are still friends with their exes
34% of these men said they knew it was time for a divorce because she was cheating
24% of these men said they knew it was time for a divorce because she wanted out
23% of these men said they knew it was time for a divorce because they were not attracted to their wife anymore
50% said in hindsight, they knew they were growing apart because "we were rarely or never having sex"
45% said in hindsight, they knew they were growing apart because "we were living completely separate lives and had separate friends"
41% said in hindsight, they knew they were growing apart because "we were fighting all the time"
40% of men had emotional affairs while they were married
49% of men believe their exes had emotional affairs
34% of men had physical affairs
35% of men believe their ex-wives had physical affairs
47% of men said the reason for having an affair was "my wife did not seem to be attracted to me anymore"
41% of men said the reason for having an affair was "my marriage was boring"
38% of men said the reason for having an affair was "I needed an escape"
68% said the affair began at work
77% said they do not regret cheating on their ex-wives
81% say their sex lives are better now
89% said they still believe in marriage and would happily walk down the aisle again if the right woman came along
